Every year, an intrepid group of volunteer independent school librarians forms a regional conference committee. From this committee a
truly wonderful event occurs: the Annual Conference. Our conferences
have a distinctive format that reflects the collaborative nature of our
organization. Each conference, in addition to offering speakers and workshops, showcases the educational and cultural resources of the
area. Often workshops are “on wheels” for visits to schools, museums,
and cultural events. There is time to talk and explore during this immersive experience.
The
culmination of each conference is the Skip Anthony Memorial Lecture
which honors the memory of the first editor of The Library Connection.
Past speakers at the Skip Anthony dinner include Naomi Shihab Nye, Terry
Kay, and Terry Gross.
If you are interested in hosting a conference, please contact the AISL Board and include a rough outline of your planned conference. Potential hosts will be provided with a detailed planning guide.
