All School Reads: Making Book Day Work at Your School

2-Day workshop

In schools across the country, administrators, students, and faculty have been hosting all-school reads programs that foster community, encourage a love of reading, and initiate debates around the topics and ideas brought up in the chosen work. The books are used as a jumping off spot for a host of workshops, discussions, and performances that help the school community examine the work more fully.

This year's Summer Institute will help schools who who want to bring this idea to their community but don't necessarily know where to begin. Building on her own 20 years as the Book Day Coordinator at Horace Mann School in the Bronx, NY, Caroline Bartels, along with several other librarians from across the country, will help schools put the pieces in place for a successful all-school read.

Come early enough to join the welcome reception starting at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, June 27th at the NYLO Hotel. Attendees can pick up welcome packets when checking into the hotel.

This workshop is available to members of AISL only. Membership in AISL is $30 per school year. AISL is currently accepting new memberships currently that can be carried over to cover the 2017-2018 school year.
